Looking for examples of a wallet in the post Civil War era. My character is a hunter/trapper.

Check back a couple of issues of Muzzle Blast. I think there was an article on how to make a wallet for storing and carrying items for trekking.
 
I know that opinion is the lowest form of knowledge but i believe that paper money was not stored flat but rather rolled up and tied with a string. IIRC that is where the term payroll originated. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now, whether or not a hunter/trapper would actually be carrying one of these around on his person or not, I couldn't say.
 
Check out the Leather Forum at cascity.com a few fellers just made some over there,if you ever need leather i highly recommend the guys over there absolutely high quality stuff at reasonable prices.Just FYI.
