Looking for some opinions on the "legitimacy" of a brass 2 peace peanut matchbox on a Kibler Colonial rifle.

I haven't seen a patch box like that one on a longrifle made before 1820 so if I wanted my rifle to look like one of the original flintlocks, I wouldn't use it.
Kibler says the style is from the 1760s-1770s.
 
That small lid on the forward side is covering the pocket for storing percussion caps. The larger rear covers the patch box area.
