I ordered a Virginia stock in CM-1 wood on Monday and it arrived today! Very well done and the curl is along about 50 to 60% of the lenght with nice flame on the butt. (no jokes!:rotf: ) As to be expected one side has more figure than the other, but hey it's a CM-1 after all! Great folks to deal with!....loojack

Well that is great, I just ordered a currly maple grade 3 rom them, they say 70-80%. I hope I get the same results as you did.

:( Ordered one in curley ash, grade 3, about three weeks ago, and am still waiting. Maybe the tree's gotta grow a little taller :rotf: Bill

I have always been very satisfied with the CM-3 stocks Pecatonica River has sent me.

I recieved my Walnut stock from them last week. It is for a Tennessee rifle I'm starting.
I am afraid I have to say I'm not totally happy with this stock.
Dick warned me that his Walnut stocks are rather plain and that was all right with me. My displeasure comes from the lay of the woods grain, not it's colors.
This stocks grain is running parallel with the barrel rather than parallel with the wrist as it should be.
I thought of sending it back, but because it is a Tennessee and I am using the long tang, coupled with a fairly long trigger plate, I decided to use it.

The long tang and trigger plate will be running down the top and the bottom of the wrist and bolted together which will give a great deal of strength to this notoriously weak area.

I have gotten 5 from them to date and all have been Great. I always order the grade 4 maple and have some really good looking wood.

I've gotten them that were extremes at both ends of the quality scale. I've had good luck with their Kentucky pistol stocks. I bought a Late Lancaster from them for the wife's rifle at one of their booths. After I got home I saw that the forestock was bent to the left, rotated to the left and curved upwards all at the same time!!

I can only assume it was still a little green and not quite aged/dried enough. I decided to make this a learning experience and try to make it work. After several months, I got it straight and it turned out to be a nice rifle. That was two years ago and it still holding it shape real good.

I ordered an Early Lancaster CM2 stock from them for my cross sticks rifle last Sept.. I'm a little disappointed, it looks more like a CM1. However, Dick's an expert at judging wood, so, I'm hoping the real beaty shows when it's finished. It's happened to me before.

Thats the same experience I have had with TOTW, however, it makes since. They uy from them

   It came yesterday finally, it's gonna be beautiful when finished. Bill

When I called I wanted to know about a Virginia "discounted stock" They didn't have any, so I decided to order a Virginia in CM-2, they only had CM-1, to make a long story short had I gotten this stock for CM-2 I'd have been happy!....loojack
