my new Pedersoli 1861 Springfield arrived today. The fit and finish is awesome! question... how do you who have rifles in the white prevent rust? Ive heard of some people putting car wax on them but not sure if thats a good idea. Thanks

Car or other wax works very well. It's a great idea and I have done it before. It also makes cleaning the exterior easier. Keeping the gun rust free isn't as difficult as you might think. Regular cleaning soon after shooting and applying a light oil is about all it takes, oh, staying out of the rain too. I shoot an original '61 which had been "cleaned" years ago and has some pitting but a lot of in the white area and honestly I don't do anything to keep it from rusting at all. I shoot, clean, dry the barrel and wipe it down with WD-40, no problem. Don't put it in a case damp or leave it in a case for any longer than it takes you to get it home.

Oh man that's a nice one :)

I use Eezox on my Springfields. My 1816 has been in a canvas "Musket Cover" for almost a year. 0 signs of rust.

As much as I love Enfields, those '61 Springfields always stir something inside me
