Just saw on the pedersoli web site they are now making a rifled version of their double flint shotgun

That is just as well, it will give you time to change your mind. That rifle or, the shotgun version, is one bizarre abomination. Expensive too. They could have made a very cool gun. Instead they ran of the rails and made a double with features that never existed, and look just pain weird.

For many years I've thought that my ultimate best piece would be a double flinter with one smooth barrel and one rifled (very slow twist rifled barrel for heavily charged round ball and very close range small game shot loads).
But there's no way a manufacturer is going to make practical guns instead of hype based upon perception.

Sorry to disagree with the negative comments but I own one of the Pedersoli flint SXS 20 ga and love it. It is a somewhat French design which turns alot of people off but I love mine🤪

What do you use for a charge? I have one on the way.
I'm thinking 70 grains of FFg and 1 ounce of whatever....probably #8. Skychief stackup.

I typically shoot the following sir.
In 3Fg. 70 grains, leather OP wad, 1/4 to 1/2 inch wool felt lubed in bore butter or bees wax/olive oil mix. 1 oz shot. Last another 1/4 to 1/2 inch lubed wool felt as a OS wax to seal the bore. For 2Fg I use 80 grains. Please remember these shotguns are closer to a 19 ga and you will need to order 19 gauge wads. I use a 16 mm wad punch to make my own.

Well, nuts. Gonna have to backtrack with TOW. Already bought 20g wads. First real misstep in my BP journey.
Will the 19g hardcards fit?

Thank you for answering!

Yes, they will fit sir. However on the left barrel they will be hard to start until you get them down past the choke. The right barrel because it is cyl bore choke will be easier. You may want to slightly notch them. This is the reason I use leather OP wads and leather OS wads. I also use the 19 ga fiber wads which TOW sells. These I use with the wool felt wads I cut myself. Honestly, if you really plan on shooting it alot I would buy the 16 mm Osborne wad punch and cut my own. You can use a hand drill or a cheap drill press. I buy the wool felt from Durofelt online. I know it seems harder to do that but once I switched over from the hard card wads to leather and wool felt I cut myself I have never really looked back. Patterns are much better too😁. I will help you all I can sir. You will love your shotgun. I sent my locks off to get tuned at Cabin Creek Muzzleloading by the Flintlock Dr. He did a fantastic job. I also had all the bright steel furniture color case hardened by a guy in Ohio and he did a fantastic job as well. Let me know if you need any help. Rob

June of 2022, if you’re lucky. Probably much longer.
I don’t expect to see ANY new Italian black powder guns for at least another year.
So whatever you have now is all you’re going to have for a very long time.

I got my Pedersoli in January, was that the last of the Italian guns? I did have to go through a shop here in town that has a relationship with Taylors And Company. I never saw inventory available to individuals directly. Also, I paid full retail price.

I called either Taylor’s or Cimarron ( don’t remember which ) one day last week to ask about the situation.
Their guy said they had been getting a trickle guns out of Italy from time to time, but not on any kind of schedule, and they usually didn’t know what was coming. Huge backorder situation. They get whatever shows up when it shows up.
Also said most of what they have been getting are cartridge revolvers; probably because they are the hottest sellers.

Thanks guys, I had not thought about the Covid BS impacting production.
I feel lucky to have found a Pedersoli Kentucky Flintlock Rifle Kit in stock at DGW in late Jan.
Even though they haven't shipped it yet.

I ordered a Pedersoli 20 gauge SxS flintlock a month ago. Now I'm wondering if'n I'll see it before summer.
At least I have the rifle to shoot. :)

I know this is a year old thread but I am wondering if anyone has seen one of these yet?

I have a Pedersoli sxs 20ga and I'm really enjoying it, my first choice would be to source just the barrels BTW the manufacturer hasn't responded to my inquiries and I'm starting to think I should order a rifle!
