I got about 8 on the original flint before it chipped pretty bad. Thought I should probably replace it because it wasnt sparking very well.. got 5 more rounds through it but the last time I had to "fire" it 4 times to get a good enough spark to make it go off. I think I may need to flip the flint upside down like I do on my rifle.
 
Pedersoli makes good military pistols. I have one of their Harpers Ferry .54 smoothies in percussion conversion early Civil War southern style and it's a hoot. And SUPER accurate with 35 gr. 2Fg GOEX, .530" balls, and .010" luber patches.

I predict you'll LOVE your Pedersoli French horse pistol, talk about a BIG BORE would make a good snake gun or even for 2 legged threats should it be handy!!
