I have read a few posts about frizzen hardness. I have a Pedersoli Charleville 1777 musket. Do I need to worry about having the frizzen hardened?

That really depends on the frizzen. If its sparking well then its ok. If not it may be down to something other than hardness. You can check a frizzen by passing a file over it. If the file marks the surface it needs hardening which is not a big problem.

I have an older Pedersoli Bess. It has been shot many thousands of times. Late last year I noticed that I had worn through the hardening on the frizzen and it wouldn't spark. A short session with an acetylene torch and a box of Kasenite and it was good to go for another 20 years.

If your Charley is sparking and going off every time then your frizzen is hard enough. If it only sparks enough to go off every two or three trigger pulls then you probably have to worry.
