Hello everyone;

I am new to flinters but not new to muzzleloaders and have had a T/C for years and love it. I now want to get a full- stock flinter and have been eyeballing the Pedersoli Frontier. I have thought about building a rifle but I have not fully decided or committed myself to it.

How many of you have stories on the Frontier or can give me an idea of the quality and ignition of this rifle?

All comments are appreciated.

The best I can do for you is to make a generality, and it's only my opnion.

Of the Italian guns I would rate Uberty just a little better than the Pedersoli and either one of them far better than any of the other Italian producers.

I haven't seen a "Frontier Rifle" from Pedersoli so all I know is what Dixie says about them.
If you plan on shooting Maxiballs or Maxihunters the 1:48 twist will work well. If you plan on using Round Balls, a slower twist would be better but does not appear to be an option.

It uses a 3/4 flint so it ought to produce a good shower of sparks.
Sorry but that's about the extent of my guessing for now.

Two friends of mine have the Pedersoli Frontier and are very satisfied. Both are .50c and are accurate shooters with roundballs. The locks are quite good, though not as fast as a Siler. For the type of rifle (full stock) you want, I don't think you can find a better buy for the price. Hope this helps.

PS The Cabelas full stock blue Ridge is made by Pederdoli and is probably quite a bit cheaper than the frontier.

Cabelas Blue Ridge is the Frontier. The rifle shoots PRB quite well with lower charges. I shoot 60gr FFg, .490 ball and .018 ticking with spit as a lube. Off the bench it will hold 5 shots all touching at 25 yds. Go up to 70gr and the group opens up considerably. From the factory, the rifle is butt ugly. I reshaped the stock, browned the barrel (and trued the barrel, mine was bored crooked), tuned the lock, cut the pan deeper. After all that, I don't like the rifle because the drop on the stock is more than I like, so it sits in the corner until someone wants to borrow one of my muzzleloaders. That's the one I loan them. Quality wise they are very good, I just got a lemon barrel that needed work. Every one else I know with a Pedersoli is pleased with them. Good luck with yours, you will enjoy it and the flint bug will bite. This rifle was my flint bug. Rick

Dixie has the Frontier for $465 in their catalog but the website has it for $495. The cheapest I can find the Frontier with a curly maple stock is $775. It is a beautiful gun. I just need to know how reliable and accurate they are.

A Frontier with the optional patchbox and nosecap.
