I have a Pedersoli.36 cal frontier deluxe special maple. I am considering selling and will list it after I learn more about it. It looks exactly like the new ones post on Cherry for $1600. It seems the .36 cal is a rare breed in that model. I don’t know if that makes it more or less desirable. I don’t want to list it and not know what is fair . It is new never fired. It looks perfect other than the brass need to be shined up. There is a little rust on the strike plate but that is raw steel and a rub with scotch brite will do it. I won’t give it away as I don’t have to . My dad gave them to me and I have no connection to them as he was never really into them. I also have a matching 36 in regular frontier. Any help on value would help. I don’t need pictures now they are both new condition.

I should have said: I think it’s a frontier deluxe. It has the bronze brown coating on the hex barrel and from what Cherry shows its exactly like the frontier deluxe but I can’t find anywhere a 36 cal version. I guess I need to put a pic.

Had one just like it. Lots of ignition issues, hated that damn wood screw on the lock, sold it for $500.
The OP’s rifle doesn’t have that wood screw in the nose of the lock plate that you’re referring to.

I personally have the Hatfield that doesn’t have that wood screw in the lock plate either. Also have a Blue Ridge and Frontier as well. Both those two do indeed have that wood screw in their lock plates. Never had ignition issues with any of mine that I’ve mentioned.

I personally haven’t ever seen the Pedersoli Frontier in .36 caliber with patch box? The OP did say it’s the Deluxe model though?

Seems to be a nice looking rifle. I would definitely say in my opinion it would be in the $750 (+) range. Would make an excellent small critter hunting rifle. Unfortunately it’s not in my preferred caliber due to the fact I’m not a squirrel hunter.

Just my two cents. Beautiful rifle!

Respectfully, Cowboy

Honestly, if anyone is having ignition issues with a Frontier rifle, it's on them.

Agree with the wood screw- though it's not really needed functionally. i have seen guns where they threaded the wood screw hole and then put in a screw from the inside with head cut off to look like a normal lock screw. I have also seen the wood screw soldered in place.

OP- Pedersoli made these in .32, .36, and .40 for a while. I had a catalog that showed them listed.

Never seen one with engraved patch box- that and the flat head wood screws would lean to it not being done by Pedersoli

Which brings me to my last question- are you sure it's a Pedersoli? Is it marked on the Barrel? Deluxe always had a toe plate as well. Also Pedersoli's rear lock plate comes to a point, and the sear screw and bridle screw have a different configuration than the typical Pedersoli. if the barrel is marked it would have to be a early one.
Hatfield of course made them first, but would be marked on the outside lockplate- but there were at least 4 other manufacturers of this gun I have seen over the years, all of which were closer to the Hatfield.

Nice gun either way- agree with Cowboy- has to be in the $750 range.

I have been looking at that rifle off and on for years as I have been wanting a .36 caliber flintlock with a patch box and not too deep a crescent buttplate.
I just can't swallow spending that kind of money for a Pedersoli. Not that they aren't good guns, my .45 caplock was great but for the patent breach. I just feel that with some patient shopping one can get something as good or better, and maybe a little more historically accurate for the same, or not much more money. So I'd have to find a real steal of a deal, and have the money on hand at the time to take advantage of it, on one to buy one.
You say your dad wasn't really in to them, but, did he shoot them? Are they well cleaned and maintained?

Do you still have the .36 cal deluxe available? Do you have any more pictures available, and what price do you have on it?
