Going to part with my Pedersoli Indian Trade Musket. I built this musket from a kit that I purchased from a local dealer. The barrel was jug choked by Kaywood. I've hunted spring turkey with this musket for 3 season so it has a few minor scratches in the tru oil finish, nothing deep though. Bore is shiny and everything has been cared for properly. See pictures.

What does jug choked mean?

It’s a process where they open up a portion of the bore in order to obtain a better pattern for shot.

I haven’t tried round balls but I understand it can also improve round ball accuracy.

What does jug choked mean?

A short section, usually around 2 1/2” or less is opened up a few thousandths a little ways behind the muzzle.
Upon firing, the shot travels down the barrel, starts to spread out a little when it hits the relieved section, then is squeezed back down when it comes to the front part of the jug choke. Both ends of the relieved area are tapered. Presumably this kind of choke gets it’s name because a cross-sectional view of it looks like the inside of most jugs.

do you shoot it with the ramrod sticking out that far in front of the muzzle? why is it UBER LONG?

I do. I like being able to get a hold of it. I guess it could be a little shorter. I suppose if someone buys it they can shorten it to where they like.

How does the jug choke affect round ball shooting?

I was told that it will also improve grouping with round balls. i haven't tried round balls out of this gun.
