Just two days ago I got my new muzzleloading rifle. I have wanted one of these for years. I have had some good new and used rifles in the past, but I always wanted this one. The Maple Stock cost almost $200 more, but that was my preference. I also wanted a 45 caliber, which made it harder to find. I have no problem with a 50 or 54. I have had mostly 50 calibers in the past. Anyway, here is a picture of what my gun looks like.

I realize the dyed in the capote Hawken fans can tell you all the little details that make that different from the Brothers H guns.
I would be very happy with one though. Very fine production gun, easy on the eyes, and so few imperfections only an expert can see.
I’m pretty proud for you. Fine looking gun👍

Good for you, Bud! I think those are fine looking rifles. We would all appreciate some close-up photos of the maple stock.

I'm glad to hear you got exactly what you wanted. Your .45 caliber rifle is likely rather heavy, by today's standards, but that extra weight can be a real plus shooting from a rest, which the old-timers did whenever possible.

It's worthwhile, in my opinion, to spend a little extra and get just what you want. If you don't, you live with regret.

Enjoy that rifle!

That’s a mighty fine looking shooting iron…congratulations.

I’ve got a Rocky Mtn. Hawken in 50 and it’s heavy but a great shooter, the 45 cal should be really enjoyable. Curious the size of the barrel across the flats.
