Pedersoli Trade Gun Lott Lock Question

I have a new Lott lock replacement for an old Pedersoli trade gun. The forward end of the lock where you would think the lock bolt threads in is actually not threaded at all and appears to be countersunk for a coned screw head coming in from the front side of the lockplate. I have never seen such a design except maybe in some double barrel hookups. Anyone know how this is supposed to work? I need a lock bolt coming in from the backside thru the serpent into the front end of the lock. Any solution ideas other than returning the lock?

The screw hole you mention is for just that on the Pedersoli Trade gun, a small wood screw at the front right side of the lock. The Pedersoli Trade gun has only one screw/bolt holding the lock in, and it is the rear left screw/bolt. The front left screw is just a wood screw, about 1/2 to 3/4 in long.

I don't think you can put another long lock retaining screw/bolt thru the stock from the left front, as it would hit the BBL, or ram rod. At least I can't on my Pedersoli Trade gun. The only way to find out would be to drill the hole all the way thru, with the BBL, and ram rod removed, then reinstall BBL, and rod, and try a long screw/bolt. I tried measuring it once, and found it was really close. I don't think the front holes line up either. My gun is a 2021 manufacture, from a kit, I built.

How old is your Trade gun,?? What happened to the original lock,??.
My lock is held nice and secure with just the one long lock screw/bolt.
I'll admit it is a weird setup.

Thanks. I bought the gun sight unseen and can just tell it's been around for awhile. Whoever built it attempted to use a long bolt in the front but misdrilled the hole off on some angle but never pierced the lockplate. They used a small woodscrew to secure the front of the dragon instead. They did, however,
drill thru the rear dragon bolt ring and drill and tap the very tip of the lockplate rear to secure that connection. The frizzen needs replacing, a second face was welded on but not professionally. The price of a new lockplate and the price of a new frizzen were quite high so I opted to go with a new lock, and it actually fit the mortice perfectly. I have never seen a Pedersoli trade gun before so didn't know how all the attachment points worked. We will figure it out, just looking for workaround ideas.
