I just bought a DGW Cub (Pedersoli made) and want to buy a spare vent just in case. Dixie's literature says it's a 5/16X20 while various muzzleloading supplier say it's an M8-1.25 thread. Pedersoli's literature gives no info on spare parts. Please comment.

I think Dixie is, "close but no cigar."
8 mm = 0.3150". 5/16" = 0.3125"
1.25 mm = .0492" which when converted into threads per inch equals 20.320.

Due to clearances in threads, and the fact that a 5/16" thread is slightly smaller than a 8 mm thread, it might be possible to screw a 5/16-20 thread into a M8-1.25 threaded hole but it isn't a good idea, especially in a pressure situation like one sees in firearms.
If the hole is indeed a M8-1.25 metric thread then use a vent liner that has the same thread.

Did you remove the vent and match up the threads? That's the easiest way without guessing.

Threads can be tricky. Some metric and imperial threads can be too close to tell visually. I have the Brown Bess ramrod adapter from Track that adapts the Pedersoli Bess's M5-.8 threads to accept 10-32 jags and such. The threads look indistinguishable, and interestingly, 10-32 jags will thread into the M5-.8 side of the adapter, but the metric threads on the rammer won't fit into the 10-32 end of the adapter. :dunno:
