I have a Pedersoli. I want to replace the brass trigger guard and ramrod thimble with iron or silver whats the best way to do this.

Pedersoli makes many different guns and without knowing which one of them your thinking of modifying it is difficult to give any guidance at all.

After telling us what you have, the first thing you should do it to go to the Track of the Wolf site and order one of their catalogs. The small cost is money well spent and in your case could make the difference between success and a total failure.

This catalog goes way beyond other catalogs in that it has FULL SIZE photos of many of their parts.

Using these full size photos and a ruler you can measure the sizes of the possible parts, rejecting those which are too short, too long, too small etc.

You will need to find a trigger guard which has fairly large surfaces to inlet into the stocks wood. After all, you will not want some of the existing trigger guards mortises to be uncovered.

Many of their parts are available in brass, German Silver and steel.
The trigger guards are usually sand castings and they will require filing and sanding as well as polishing to make them presentable.

The ramrod entry thimble is one of the more difficult parts to inlay into the stock. The outer ones are usually not a big deal but in your case, they will have to at least be as long or longer than the existing thimbles.
