If your rifle has a barrel dovetail for the rear sight, I would recommend the Marble Bulls Eye rear peep or the Skinner dovetail peep. May or may not be compatible with your front sight height & style but that can be easily changed as needed, A front bead type sight works well with either in brass, white or fiber optic. A peep sight does NOT need to be mounted on the tang. The Marble is the easiest & fastest open sight I have used. The Marble is less than $15 & well worth a try. If you don't like it, I'll buy it from you. The Skinner is more expensive, but a VERY nice sight that is easily adjusted. Skinner also comes as a screw on sight. Good luck!

Thank you very much Old Hawkeye for sharing your wisdom and advice. Of the 2, which in your opinion would work best with the factory blade front sight ?
Or would it be better to change the front also ?
I'm kinda leaning towards the Skinner, but needs to do more reading on both options

Thanks again
Bill

My Pedersoli Kodiak was drilled and tapped for a Peep sight at the tang so I contacted Pedersoli and ordered one.

If that’s not a option for you… Look at Skinners Lo Pro. Thread size is that of normal gun sizes - 6/48 or 8 something.

Nice rifle by the way.

Ps- If you go with the Low Pro- You may need the Cap Cup to keep fouling Away from peep

I would go ahead & try the factory front sight to see if the height works. Then if you want to go with a different style front you will know what height to get or you may just want to leave the factory on. With any hunting peep sight I find a bead type works the best, cause your eye is centering a circle within a circle. If you want more precision for serious target work a globe type with interchangeable inserts might be better. I have two of the Skinner Lo-Pros, one brass & one blued on a couple Hawken style rifles. I drilled the hole for the 8-40 thread in the flat part of the tang (not in the barrel) & they both work well. Fouling is of minimal consequence. Be aware that any windage adjustment will have to be with the front sight only when using the Lo-Pro. That was not an issue with my rifles, but other rifles may differ. Skinner can provide different height stems if you need more height adjustment. Once again, the front sight height will depend on your rifle, load, caliber, etc. I have a fiber optic front on one & a brass bead on the other. I have a XS system white fronted blade with one of the Marble Bulls Eye rears & a XS system white bead on the other. Both the Lo-Pro tang mounted & the Skinner or Marble dovetail mounted work great. The Lo-Pro is a slightly better target/plinking sight, but the rear mounted Marble is much faster & provides a much better field of view for hunting. A friend has the Skinner barrel mounted sight on ALL of his TC's (which are screw mounted) and they work with the factory front as far as height goes. A lot of this stuff is personal preference & what looks good to your eyes, so dive in & find the combo that works good for you. Let us know, with pics, how things turn out.

Thanks again Old Hawkeye ! I just ordered the Skinner barrel mount peep in brass so it will match all the brass on the rifle. Also added the .125 and .155 Apertures for my old eyes and hunting in dim light.

Will try it with my blade front site and see how it works.

You might source a fiber optic bead front for hunting. Green shows up well at dawn and dusk…

You may find that the screw in apertures provide more precision when shooting paper, but removing them all together & just using the "ghost ring" when hunting in low light will be more serviceable. Report back on your experience/opinion with a few "range" pictures when you get a chance.

The skinner barrel mount arrived and I just finished installing it. Used my bore sighter to get everything lined up. Now to hit the range and try it out.

Fit and finish was very good. Seems to be high quality.

Thinking of adding a peep sight to my Pedersoli Rifle. Looked online, but to be honest, very confused. Not sure if this rifle will accept a peep or which one.
This is the kit I built

Can post pics of the actual rifle if needed.

Any info or advice will be greatly appreciated

I would refer you to Lee Shaver Gunsmithing. I was referred to him by this forum and I am very happy -- I purchased a mid-range soule style Vernier tang peep with Hadley eyecup after discussing my needs via email. My mount is on a T/C Hawken .45 and I can no longer use open sights (age). The installation was easy and did not even need any shims. Waiting for better weather to determine if my original front blade is adequate or do I upgrade to a spirit level front with changeable inserts. The quality of his sights I found to be superb. Even if you choose to buy elsewhere I am positive you will find his advice will be invaluable and provide clarity. Good luck!

Thanks Blackrock52 !

I just installed a Skinner peep sight. But will look at the Lee Shaver sight and see what they offer.
