Looking to replace the hammer on my TC hawken rifle. I have one in 50and one in 45. Would like to get a spare for each. So far I’ve tried eBay, and basically all the BP shops. All are out of stock and a few have the whole lock which I don’t need and is big dollars! Does anyone know where I can find them and does anyone know if they make a replacement hammer that would fit them? Please let me know.
Thanks Art

You really only need one hammer for a spare, the .45/.50/Hawken/Renegade are all the same parts. I kept my eyes open and did buy a complete lock that I can quickly change out when I need my gun to work "now". Then I can take my time getting parts to fix anything broken.
Check TOTW, they have parts available, not always the same but the stock does come and go. https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/795/1/LOCK-TC-H-R

there is two of them on gunbroker right now. they are listed as "Black Powder Fancy Hammer"

kinda spendy to my lights with 40 bucks each to open, 45 buy now, and 6 dollars to ship.

I have used a Lyman tumbler to overhaul a T/C lock but, no idea if the hammers would interchange or not.

Art, I have one, .50 TC Hawken hammer. Just need an address to mail it to, no strings attached.

One is for a replacement, the second is a back up. I have four TC hawkens! 😀. Also tried TOTW, no luck. Looks like two members here have them. I thank you and everyone here for your help. Art

Looks like my problem is solved! Thanks again to the forum members who kindly offered me a new hammer. It always amazes me about the kindness and helpfulness of people here.

Interesting that you need a replacement and a spare for your TC 'hawken' rifle. The hammer/cock on a perc rifle is not something that generally needs replacing. Unless messed with or lost I don't understand why you need/want these.

To satisfy your curiosity! These TC’s, total of 5,are old with thousands of rounds through them. On one of the rifles the hammer developed a crack at the cup that contacts the cap. A small piece has broken out. I want to replace it. With parts for TC being scarce I want a spare hammer in the event any of my others go down. Art

for future reference, a friend told me he called T/C and they said they still have hammers & they're 19 bucks each. don't know how long this will stand true what with all the turmoil/uncertainty goin' on at T-C/S&W/Remington/Marlin etc., etc.

I called them And after being bounced around from department to department finally got a human. Was told they no longer carry side lock parts! Thanks for the help Art

Call em again till ya get someone that knows whats left. I bet ya they have alot of parts, all the parts? likely not but a hammer wouldn't be a part to go fast and they likely have it. You may have talked to a Smith or a Wesson.

I have the parts coming due to the kindness of members here! We have a great group of members here and for everyone I again say thank you. I did call back again after the first time got another person with the same results. Seems like there only interested in their newer products. Might be fun to have all the members stat calling for the older parts! If nothing else they might start producing them again!

😀😀. Art

Well it's really great you could find one here Art.
Your right,, this is a great group of folks here.
Just keep in mind that when you find out you have no reason to need an extra hammer for your percussion T/C guns,, that you have one.
I guess my point is in all these years I've not seen a T/C percussion hammer fail unless someone has fully dis-assembled the lock and lost it,, or if someone has heated it red-hot to bend it in an attempt to fit a musket nipple or modern 209 primer type device to an already reliable ignition system to "improve" it,, then heat it red-hot again to bend it back,,
Or, tried to "cold bend" a hammer for the same reason as above.
There's simply darn few reasons to need a "spare hammer" for a T/C percussion rifle.

Now a spare tumbler could be a whole different story though!
:hatsoff: Yup, and a few of the other parts,, That's why I think folks have an extra hammer to share! It's leftover from a lock with other broken parts, :haha:

to "improve" it,, then heat it red-hot again to bend it back,,

The steel used for these hammers may have changed with the years. At one time I tried bending a TC hammer using propane to heat almost white hot. It would not give even a little bit. Cold bending attempts surely would have broken it. It's still cocamemi but works.
