To whom it may concern. My comment about the "Limeys" suffering from PTSD was directed at, and for, Brit, whom I know would not be offended, and in response to his post. I know Brit is a man, and not a little girl. It had nothing to do with the "new guy". On a forum consisting of men who like to play with guns, I could not imagine someone getting their panties in a knot over such a mild term. As someone mentioned, if I were to be called "yank", by a non-yank, it would mean nothing. When the post about being a racist came up, I actually thought it was directed at Brit, and posted to show my support for him. When my post was deleted, I thought nothing of it. But then it seems that stumpy had to get in a final *** for some reason. ?? I did not jokingly insult anyone. I took a friendly *** at Brit. The "recent member" had nothing to do with it, but sure jumped on it. Anyhow, that's my final say, I'll say no more, delete it if you wish.
I will say the "for some reason" occurs because I do not read every post or visit every thread. Often the first I hear of something is when I get a robo-e-mail at home because has punched the Report button on a post. That is most often the reason I choose to become involved because I tend to be very "hands off" if no one is complaining. First Amendment and all.
As I said. Because you are not offended or don't think someone should be offended does not mean someone wasn't offended. Reporting a post is anonymous but I will say it was not the original poster - so at least two on this thread felt put out. I know some on this forum who would be very offended to be called a "Yank". Not that they deserve the honor. ;-)
I am not sure "Brits" are a race, but certainly there are regional slurs that may mean something different when they hear them from us.

Got to admit my first six months with my flintlock was an exercise in absolute frustration, with endless flash in the pans, hang fires and failures to fire.
In the end all it took was to change my loading sequence from fire, clean, load to fire, load, clean and my problems were solved.

For my type of shooting the percussion cap suits me the best although I still like my flintlocks, when on pest control over crops which may involve a hundred shot in one outing the percussion cap is the best but I am not racist too the flint lock which also get a outing .
So what I am saying is if you prefer the flint lock to the percussion cap that is OK but not lets us forget that we all are muzzle loaders and shoot black powder which we enjoy

A Stand of Flintlocks
Now that's a picture of outstanding beauty!
Just went to the Fort de Charters winter Rendezvous. They have a woods walk done with five man teams. I joined a team of fellows and off we went. We had about twenty shots for all of us, so about a hundred ball was thrown down range. But out of our five members I don’t think we had a misfire or klatch in the group.
It was flinter only and three of us shooting smoothies.
There were twenty four teams, two dropped out due to time restraints, we came in fourteenth.
We might have thrown more ball in to the levy instead of the targets, but by God they went off on time.
It was a French fort (frogs)on First Nations land (Indians) conquered by the English( lobster backs) across the Mississippi fromSpanish land( Dons) taken over by the Americans( Jonathans) settled by Germans( Dutchies ) and Irish(paddy) had some slave owners in the area that fought for the south( rebs) but was mostly loyal to the north( blue bellies) and now the site of people playing at history( nerds)
We stand in ‘gallant company’.

I couldn't make it to the Fort de Chartres Woods Walk this year due to my twisted knee. Even walking from the parking area to the camps would have been too much. Yes, it would have been 24 teams or 120 flint lock shooters. Most make it all the way through the course with few problems. In our part of the country it is one of the best events of the year. We do spend a goodly amount of time preparing so our locks will be reliable. We learn how to control fouling so we can reload with the rod on our firearm. Smooth bores compete with rifled guns.
Attend one of those events and you will soon learn about the allure of a well tuned flint lock.

After studying LD's great photos of game taken with flint, I just figured it would be okay to speak up about the same thing. I've hunted with both quite a bit but now use flintlocks exclusively. Part of the reason is that I'm a longrifle fan and a longrifle is naked ("nekked" in Southern though the two terms do have slightly different connotations) without a flint lock mounted. While I can't swear to it I have it on good authority that you have to own at least one flintlock in order to get into heaven. So with that thought buzzing around your head like a mosquito, I offer the following for your inspection.
Used both but prefer flint.
I never even consider they won't work.
