I stained my stock, and applied the sealing coats of permalyn sealer. It has been 24 hours since the last coat, and I put on the first thin coat this evening.
Before putting on the coat this evening, a few areas of end grain seemed to have a white-ish look to them instead of the darker color of the stain that is on the rest of the stock. Areas like the front and rear rounds of the lock panels where the top and bottom converge, etc. I went ahead and put the first thin finish coat on and a couple hours later after it's started to dry to the touch, these areas are whitish looking again.
Does this mean that area is still soaking up sealer? Did I not sand those areas enough? Will it eventually look better after putting on enough coats?
