perssimon wood for stocks?

I have a very large perssimon tree with a fork about 3' up from the stump. I think it would, if cut properly, make a good stock. Problem is, I've never heard of it being used for stocks before. I've heard of cherry being used many times. Perssimon is a fruitwood. Just thought I would ask all you stock gurus.
