Brokenknock. Now I know your from CT. I escaped a few years ago!

OK -- soapbox time!!

People who tell me what to do, or. more exactly, NOT to do: SUCH AS:

what not to read
what i'm supposed to read
what I am or ought not to have in a gun safe (the existence of which I can neither confirm or deny)
what i'm supposed to eat
what i'm not supposed to eat
what kind of knife I should carry
what kind of knife i'm not supposed to carry
millionaire socialists
billionaire socialists
religious zealots who try to convince people that the virus is a scourge of God
socialist (usually) atheists who try to convince me that God doesn't exist
self congratulatory Prius drivers: sanctimonious, self- entitled holier than thou" types who want me to stop doing [fill in the blank]
'cause my actions are destroying the economy, the environment, their self esteem, or somesuch clap trap
self entitled hippie- dippie types who walk up to you on the street and tell you to put on a mask … these people are wearing handkerchiefs
their faces as though they were some of outlaw highwayman about to hold up the coach of a nobleman and shout "stand and deliver!"
Hey, hippie- dippie, the cloth won't stop shXt, OK?
those who whine and moan about the "less fortunate"
people who assume that because I have nice things, I got them through some nefarious means, or that I was "lucky." Not really,
started out with nothing, and I earned everything I have
people who assume that they can take what I have and give it to their buddies because the should all have their "fair share." click...
politicians. of all stripe and variety - liberals, moderates, conservatives -- they're all despicable low life scum

Hippy dippie: you should wear a mask, so you won't spread the Covid virus
me: you assume that I have it, and that the mask will do anything, neither of which are true. you just want to boss people around.
Hippy dippie: I don't understand your hostility! Don't you care about the people around you? Whatabout the elderly and the children and
the less fortunate?
me: lady, it's only fair to tell you that trying to tell me what to do is hazardous to your health
Hippie dippe: I don't understand, what do you mean, you're not an uneducated Trump supporter, are you?
me: lady, my politics are none of your damned business, and telling me what to do is hazardous to your health because it
significantly elevated the statistical probability that I will kick your ass.

OK - those are my primary pet peeves .. i'll climb back off of my soap box before I fall down and get a really big boo boo...

telling me what to do or what to eat may be hazardous to your health

And so it is, Sir. This is for you, from me, wishing you a blesséd day. I've added a Youtube movie of a piece of music that I used to walk across London to listen to when I was at school there. The choir at the Russian Orthodox Metropolitan cathedral was slightly smaller than this one, but the sound, for reasons I've never understood, was just the same.

Sirs ---
Also to @fourbore . Thanks for the "deletion" on Easter Sunday. TFoley, you selected a very beautiful choir selection to post today.

I think I understand why the sound from two different choirs was just the same. Classical music, when played or sung, does not provide for any improvisation from the original composer's creation. I had one experience years ago that vividly brought this to me. I was brought up in the Serbian Orthodox church, quite aligned with the same congregation <---> priest responsive chants as the Russian Orthodox Church service. Unchanged for centuries. All through my youth my Dad took us kids to a Serbian monastery in northern IL, and I heard the same chants/singing for years. During my college studies, I took a study abroad trip to Russia (at that time the Soviet Union). The first time I attended a Sunday morning Orthodox service was at a church in Kiev. I'll never forget that deju vu experience. I thought I was in northern Illinois that very moment! All that to say, I appreciated the choir music I heard this day.

Incorrect spelling and poor grammar, particularly if due to cellular telephone "spellcheck" or whatever it's called. The edit feature on this forum works to perfection if one wishes to review their post and correct their phone's errors. We're encouraged not to curse here in case younger folks are reading; in my opinion, bad spelling and grammar are equally damaging to our youth...

YES!!

another pet peeve .. especially as regards written communication from people who one would hope knew better. memo from management... changed tenses three time in one paragraph … and we're supposed to take these people seriously??? Really??

worker: Hey manager, did you write this? It has your name on it.
managr Yea, I did.
worker: it's so badly written that I don't understand it. So, either you think that nobody on the floor is smart enough to understand what you mean, or you don't care if we do what you say, or you're too stupid to express yourself in written form. Which is it?
managr: You're being disrespectful and sarcastic and insubordinate.
worker: go ahead, write me up … you do know how to write, don't you?

broadcast journalists are equally guilty, and these were once considered the guardians of the language.

So. I figure we are all in lockdown. We can all use a chance to vent and maybe some humor to be shared. What is everyones biggest muzzleloader pet peeve? I've read a few on here and I laugh at how worked up people get on some I know not all half stock percussions are Hawkins. Italian muzzleloaders in general. Ball starters anyone? Brass pins on period knives..... I am to new to muzzleloading but my biggest pet peeve for shooting in general is when someone calls a magazine a clip...
Lets share. Have fun. Keep it light.

Reading through all the comments so far, it seems like most people are "peeved" by other people rather than muzzleloaders or muzzleloading.

But traditional black powder shooters are some of the nicest people I've met.
True, but sometimes I think they don't get enough fiber in their diet. ☺

Wanna know what I really can't stand? And this is not just in the muzzleloading world, but just about everywhere, in every subject.

People who think they can do anything themselves, without putting any real effort into it (or even if they do put effort into it... we're not all capable of everything). People that refuse to research, or learn, or practice, or do anything for themselves. And then they make demands on others... others who spent years and years, and tons of money and effort to study, learn, and practice whatever it is. They demand others tell them what they want to know NOW. "I wanna know how to make a knife, just tell me how to heat treat it NOW!" People who have studied and practiced their trade, or researched the subject, and spent countless hours and countless dollars doing the legwork and the hand work somehow owe these internet twits all the knowledge they gained through all their work???

There are so many people who want to know something and it seems it NEVER even crosses their mind to look it up themselves. Even the simplest things. Whiny little twits that can't even type a few words into a Google search themselves.....grrrrrrr

I wish I could "like" this one 20x

That was worthy of the day. Thank you very much.

My pet peeves are (not necessarily in order):

1) cold coffee
2) wet toilet paper
3) dancing with a woman that leads
4) inaccurate firearms
5) dirty firearms
6) self-appointed experts; especially the self-appointed firearms experts
7) ticks, chiggers and mosquitoes
8) mushrooms, anchovies and calamari
9) MREs (I use to eat WWII C-rations which were better and didn't make me puke)
10) skunks (two legged and four legged)
11) monkeys (never stand within range of one when it has poo in its hand)
12) ink pens that don't work
13) insulated boots that don't keep my feet warm
14) waterproof boots that don't keep my feet dry
15) having nothing better to do on a rainy day than to visit shooting forums and complain:)
16) running out of things to complain about:)

I truly enjoy shooting black powder guns, I've been shooting black powder since 1980. I LOVE my left hand flintlock. I load from a powder horn, measurer and leather possibles bag.

BUT, I don't own any period clothing, never been to a rendezvous, or a trail walk. I hunt in camo and go to the range in jeans and t shirt.

So my pet peeve is guys who think no one should use ANYTHING that wasn't used 200 years ago.
That the only way to do something is what was done before electricity and automobiles. I sometimes wonder how these guys can stand having an electronic device to post here.

Also guys who don't know what the space bar is for.
