"TG as to the rammer,it's not all that difficult'

I know the "right" way Tom I used a short cut on mine and glued an oversized piece of dowel on the end of the rammer and tapered it down, I wondered if EK use a short cut or worked it down from a larger blank.
 
Don't know how Erik did it but I take the easy way!!! Bought a ramrod tapering tool from Mike Lea & Daughter. Start with a 1/2" rod from straight grain split hickory and then taper down to fit the pipes. I use 5/16" entry pipe and from now on, ramrod hole, to get er slim!

It takes about 1/2 hour with the tool to get it to size, scrape it smooth and put a tip on it and stain it. however long you want to finish it.
