So, I was told this show was big, and it is. It encompasses three different expo rooms. A lot of quality vendors and good people from the reenactor community. It's always nice to run in to familiar faces from past events.

one of those good people I've met in the past at other reenacting events. Always fun to catch up and make new friends in this hobby.

Great Pictures BUT-- did you get permission/releases from the vendors or purchasers of the goods? My wife is a seller/vender at several juried shows. And cameras are a big no-no due to pirating/infringments of prapriatary rights of the artist, or manufacturer. I know of several people who knows that when their picture or goods are taken will try to ruin the photo- through giving the finger, holding something up in front to cover up their goods,making faces, bumping into the photographer so the picture will be blurred. I even have seen a couple of people escorted out of the venue, along with confiscation of the camera/card. Be very careful.
Don't believe me contact your lawyer. Why do you think that people in pictures in the background have thier faces blurred.

Had a great time up there this year! Had very few needs this year, but came home with several wants!

Trench, thanks for letting me come to your event. Wish we had something that big near here. Those demos are awesome, especial the guy with the pole lathe. I would not have expected a fellow with a raw pelt and a fleshing board! Did you take your son?

I was impressed with the demos, myself. I left the little guy with Grandma and went up with my Father for this one. It was a two hour drive from their house and I didn't think we'd be able to hold his attention for the hours we wanted to spend there. I also should have mentioned that they had about 8 different mini-lectures throughout the day at this show in classrooms that were off to the sides of the main show rooms. It really was an amazing show.

poor private IF THERE ARE NO SIGNS AT THE DOOR OR ON A BOOTH THEN YOU ARE IN PUBLIC. CHECK WITH YOUR LAWYER. IF YOU DON,T WANT TO BE SEEN STAY HOME OR POST YOUR OWN SIGN AT YOUR BOOTH. THIS IS A PUBLIC VENUE UNLESS THE ORGANIZER CLOSES IT.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Trench. I was there this past Saturday and enjoyed the show, like I always do. I even had a shopping list and picked up about a third of what I needed. Is it just me, or does it seem like the prices on a lot of this stuff are really climbing fast?
The addition of an entire new (and larger) section really alleviated the crowding and made this year even better than it usually is.

The lack of crowding was great. The extra room really did the trick. No traffic jams between the tables like you get at other shows that are pressed for room. I did hear at least one vendor make mention about how little room they had on the other side of the tables.

I bought a lap desk for quill and ink writing. I'm looking forward to getting some practice in soon. Of course, that mean's I'll need some books on the subject. :grin:

That's what I heard one say, also. He felt he was "dancing" with the others behind the booth.

Prices were a little higher, as the price of gas to get there, materials, etc. are higher. Still had a lot of fun and actually spent less than I thought I would (now I may have to pay shipping! :cursing: ) As usual, a good time!

hey Trench let me know what brand of paper yer gonna practice on :grin: I'll buy some stock in the company n get rich after all yer practiceing :blah: writing in the old ways is beautiful , I tried but don't have a patience to get good at it. Guess I'll stick to sketching with charcoal :wink: :thumbsup:

 

Amend, that's been common knowledge for years, good post.

 

Just got off the phone with Bob Browder of Longhunter Leather Company. He said the show was the largest one with visitors and probably one of the slowest for sales in years. Several other dealers I talked to as well as Bob said high dollar items were dead, wares under $50 were selling... "Baby needs new shoes" that comes first....
