In my new member introductory message of a few days ago, Maxiball requested a few pictures and info on my .40 and .58. This is all his falult. When it comes to showing pictures of my guns, I'm kind of like a Grandmother with pictures of her first grandchild. Since Ansel Adams is still dead, I had to take the pictures myself, thus the lesser quality than he would have taken. Both guns were made by Ron Luckenbill of Emporium PA, just two of the four I have made by him. The .40 is a copy of an Isaac Haines done with a 38" Rice radius grooved barrel, curly maple stock from Cameron Co, PA, where Ron lives, and iron mounted furniture left in the white but boiled in Clorox to age it. It seems to like a .390" ball and .015" patches over 40 gr. 3F for close work and 60 gr. 3F for further out. The .58 is a Frech Fusil pattern with a 38" Colerain radius grooved barrel, walnut stock, and browned iron furniture. Both guns have left hand large Siler locks. My in close load for it is 65 gr. 3F and the deer and far out load is 100 grains of 3F. Some may blanch at the use of 3F in a .58 but I have had no problem. I know a guy that shoots healthy charges of it in a .62. I use both .557" and .565" balls in it, depending on what thickness patch material is availble at Wally World and Jo-ann Fabrics. Now, if I can just get the pictures posted.
