I have access to some deerhide that will need to be pieced together to be long enough for leggings. Is there a particular technique or stitch that is historically appropriate for this task? Thanks.
I dodn't know how period correct this method would be ,but a furrier buddy of mine sews his coats by bringing the two ends together than sews them to where the seem is hidden on the inside..
Also, from a logical point of view. I don't think I would want exposing stitchings on the outer part of the legging to get worn or frayed by rubbing against brush..
