Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
I bought a flask that came with a 24 spout and I ordered a 20 also. If I keep the powder charge light, I should be OK.
Just made a post on getting a new 1858. I won't have to worry about the powder charge on it!....but what about the nipples? I'm hoping that just getting some #10 Remington nipples will be ok with it.
Not safe to charge directly from your flask on a pistol or rifle use a powder measure or a piece of hollowed out horn. You don't want it blowing up in your face.
An empty .38 special case holds 22 grains of BP so it might work for you. If you want a bit less, just file the case down until you get what you want. Fill the case then dump it into the chamber then seat your felt wad and ball. GF
I would like to put a more user friendly front site on my pistol. Does anyone know of a front site that would be fairly easy to install without having to make one from scratch? Didn't know if there were any aftermarket sights available.
I have one of those but it's not all that accurate. Pie plate at 25 yards. I've tried a bunch of things to increase it but it's not good enough for small game. Maybe your having better luck. The biggest increase in accuracy is to get the ball seated just below the cylinder by using cornmeal as a filler. I also tried making paper cartridges but that dos'nt work unless you nitrate the paper.
Good luck
