Personally my Shiloh sharps has no problems igniting black Mz and the velocity is faster. I’ve six bottles of black Mz and mine hasn’t degraded at all but I live in a dry area with hardly any humidity. I think I paid 8 dollars apiece for the black Mz even though I’ve on hand about the same amount of black powder. Do I instruct anyone? No I use what works and try to save a little so I can shoot more. I run no substitute powder in any of my flintlock rifles or pistols but all my cap locks work with triple seven, Pioneer, or Black Mz. Really don’t know why anyone would discourage people from using substitutes in a cap lock. Different strokes for different folks I guess?
