I am trying to find some ideas for a pistol loading stand. I have made some in the past but not been happy with the design. They looked good and worked great. Everyone that uses them are very happy with them. The only thing I don't like about the design is that they had to be made to match the pistol. I am trying to find patterns or ideas for a pistol stand that can be adjusted to accommodate various pistols. That way you have one stand no matter how many pistols you may own.
Thanks in advance for your time and ideas.

YOu need two adjustments for every pistol or revolver stand. You can use a router to cut dove tail grooves in a wooden upright, in which slides a post that can be stopped at whatever height you wish by a simple turn screw. The U-shaped fixture for holding the barrel would be attached to the sliding posts. This allows you to reduce the height of a stand for storage and transportation.

On the base, you can rout out another groove to put a sliding butt brace, again, one that can be stopped at the required distances with a turnscrew. You would attach a piece of wood, or brass, to the sliding brace so its at right angles to the groove, to actually hold the butt in place. Whether you also put some kind of U-shaped design to help control sideways movement of the butt would be up to you. Pad the two holders were leather, or cloth, to protect the finish of the barrel and frame or butt, and you are ready to go.
