Hi all...I was at a pistol match today. First one I have been to. Just about everyone there had a large pistol loading stand. Not revolver stand, but pistol stand. Anyone know where I might find one ?

Thanks,

Jack

I think most folks build their own from a couple blocks of wood, a piece of leather or two to protect the stock and a screw and wing nut against another block of wood to serve as a clamp.

Some folks get real fancy and modify a shooting box to incorporate some sort of holding block and clamp but building a simple support isn't very hard to do.

Loading stands are quite simple to make.

Here's three photos of some of mine. They're made of oak but pine works just as good ... I picked up the 6" shelf brackets at Lowe's.

Just trace the outline of your pistol and cut. I also recommend carving a small "notch" in the base of each to match your pistols. It helps keep them in place when loading. (3rd pic)

I have over twenty and every stand is custom made for each pistol... including civil war and western.

Here's the other side of the spectrum, $5 for bass wood at the hobby shop and some plaster of paris for a heavier/tip over proof bottom.

Nice stands everyone.....wish I had the skills to make one. Thanks for posting. Someone should market those for sure. I would be first in line !!!

I have building plans for a pistol loading stand in a pdf. file. If you would like a copy please send me an email and I will attach the files and send them your way. I have plans for three different loading stand models.
