I see that bass pro is selling the pedesoli blue ridge substantially less than midway's pedesoli's frontier. What are the differences, similarities between them that causes the pricing at each place? I've done a search that didn't return an answer. Thanks.

A quick google reveals that the names are the only difference , In the Pedersoli catalogue at the top of this page it shows they make a "Maple" deluxe and a plain standard in both cap and flint and the deluxe has a brass patch box and fore end which the plain one does .
Frontier Rifles . Midway have the walnut stock Frontier $941 , Bass Pro and Cabellas have it at $700-$720 , The big difference is Midway have one in stock Bass Pro don't . Shop around

I have a few of each, in both flint and percussion, and like them all. The Frontier Rifles have a browned barrel, as a previous response stated. The Blue Ridge rifles, made mostly for Cabela's, are "blued", but not in the traditional sense. It is more of a textured finish. Otherwise the rifles are identical, unless you go the Maple option. All mine are great shooters, and while not traditional, I really like being able to easily remove the barrel for cleaning. On my rifles, I strip the "plasticy" looking finish and replace it with boiled-linseed oil. Also you will absolutely want to get a real hickory ramrod to replace the dowel-rod it comes with. It will break! I drilled out my vent holes to 1/16" on the flint rifles, and chamfered with a larger bit, that really helped ignition. Finally I replaced all the front sights for something shorter and thinner. The factory front sight is too tall, and gets wider as it is filed down for zeroing. Easily replaced with numerous options, as it is a standard dovetail. I consider them to be good rifles, especially at the price I paid (well under $300 new) years ago. I realize they are much more now, but still 1/3 to 1/10 the price of a custom job.

The frontier and blue ridge rifle is my least favorite of the pedersoli long rifles. It has too many modern features that really would not have been on this particular style of rifle, the milled thimbles, (the thimbles providing double duty as barrel lug) the lock is too larger and the stock and barrel are too short (hence the wood screw on the Lockplate) and the trigger guard is way too bulky.

These constantly are reselling online for nearly 300-500 less than their base prices.

Where are good places to look for used blue ridge/frontier and for that matter used rifles in general? I've been watching the classifieds but nothing in my price range. Thanks.
