Picked this up in trade a few years back. I literally have nothing into it. It has a 42" 50 cal. 7/8" barrel. The barrel and lock are both unmarked that I can tell. It is a pretty poorly put together kit. I hope to get a new piece of wood and start over completely. At this point I figure I have a barrel and a cheap lock and a few pieces of crude furniture. Probably do a barrel wedge, or pin it to the stock, and ditch the barrel bands. I really don't care if it looks authentic. I just want to make it functional. My guess this is something thrown together back in the heyday at DGW as a kit, but nothing really matches up, and barely functions without lots of work.

If nothing else, it’s a first rate challenge.
I'm gonna try to polish this sows ear. I tried to shape the trigger guard and it broke where it had one of the 4 off center screw holes drilled. I may just get some 3/8 x 1/8" flat steel and make my own trigger Guard. Thinking of making it a half stock as the wood is extremely thin after the spot where the first band is. I don't want to sink a ton of money into this thing, just get it functional, and more finished looking. At least so it's not embarrassing to pull out in front of my buddies at the range.

Working on it a little the last couple of days. I don't expect to win any awards with this. I'm going to have to epoxy some wood back into the trigger area and rework the whole trigger assembly. I shifted the lock back about 1/8" and the trigger needs to go back about 1/4" . I fit the brass butt plate a little better than it was. Currently it's held in place with drywall screws. I fashioned a new trigger guard from a piece of 1/8 x 3/4 CRS. The trigger mechanism was held in place with screws that looked like they came out of a set of window blinds and they are about as soft as them too if you know what I mean. Hopefully I'm not getting the wrist too thin for the recoil of a 50 cal. Most of my work has been done with a handheld electric planer , a grinder with a flap disc. A cordless router, and my 1x42 belt sander.
My intentions are to either cut off the existing wood past where the barrel bands is and graft another piece into it like the tradition kentucky rifles do. Or I'm going to make it a half stock with 2 wedge, wand an under rib and steel ramrod tube's. I will probably shorten the barrel to around 32-36" either way.
