A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK FOWLING PIECE SIGNED KETLAND, LONDON, serial no. APX-395-EX-73, being an Indian export number, circa 1800, with 38 1/2in. Spanish form two-stage barrel signed 'LONDON' at the breech, private proofs, spider fore-sight (bead absent), shallow sighting groove to the engraved top-tang, border engraved lock signed 'T. KETLAND & CO' below the pan, swan-necked cock, replacement frizzen spring, walnut half-stock (cracked through behind lock and repaired), chequered wrist, engraved brass furniture, two barrel keys, horn fore-end tip and replacement ramrod

It's a bit hard to see the front part of the trigger guard but it looks like the English style trade acorn but it is really thin. The ramrod pipes are also really unusual. The carving around the barrel tang looks American, New England, to me. The thumb plate is very similar to a couple in Battle Weapons of the American Revolution as is the carving. I believe it is an American-made copy of a British fusil. I believe it is shortened but I assume they also made carbines so either is possible without a better look at that muzzle to see if it is cut straight. ca 1770s-1820s.
