Has anyone done this to help with fouling build up? If so, how would you go about doing it if you couldn't remove the breech plug from the barrel? The chamber on my rifle is a touch smaller than .30 caliber. I thought if using a .17 cal jag with a bit of scotch bright but was worried I might get it stuck in the chamber.

Yes, on TC guns I will usually not only polish the inside but open it up so it is the same size as the bore. Several times I have found the breech plug so short compared to the threads in the barrel that there is a big gap between the two. That can get addressed at the same time.
