About 5yrs ago I got gack into muzzleloading.Bought a dbl barrel 12 ga and a 50 cal cap and a ruger old army.Went to wally world and for 8.00 bought a belt thingy with two pouches and a game bag on the back.It held most everything but everything was mixed together and I lived with it for years.I now have ten muzzleloaders and live in story wy and hunt bout everyday. On a normal day I would have a 32 cal underhammer pistol stuck in my belt but wish I had a better way to carry it.I probably would have my old army in a holster on my right side and either a rifle or a shotgun in hand. Now I decided I was so tired of dumping everything out the wally world belt thingy and switching and rearranging for whatever I was hunting that day that I was willing to spend the money and buy as many bags as I needed for the hunting I do.First the price of these bags are quite high at least for me so since I had been shotgunning alot lately I decided to start there.I found for 50.00 on the net a nice looking leather bag 8x8 with 4 brass small game rings on it and 2 small pockets sewed in the front and one large inthe back.I have a handmade ball starter and ramrod I made from a piece of elk horn I use for my underhammer 32 pistol and with no starter loops I guess I could have one installed for it.I bought a shot pouch from cva wich broke the first time I used it no joke I still have the brass charger and used the leather for scrap so now I put my shot in little paper pouches I make up premeasured of course and these take up room in the pouch which I suppose if I bought a real shot snake this problem would be solved.I only use my 32 pistol for coyotes and other critters as such and dont use it so much but still have been usin my pouderhorn to carry pistol powder in it for that and carrying some speed starters for my shotgun with both ends filled with powder. That leaves me carrying a brass measure and flask for refilling my speedloaders with 100 grns of powder.Does anybody have a batter Idea for that.So in this pouch I have a ballstarter/ramrod,packs of shot, wads, overwads brass flask+measure also have a small bullet bag attached on strap for 32 balls and patches.Next for the same price of 50.00 the same guy sold me an identical pouch but except in place of the game rings are three loops which I carry My pistols ramrod, ball starter and also a flintlock pan primer. It also will need to contain speed loaders some tools and allthe other goodies needed for deer, mountain goat and sheep.Really it may be O.K.I have another on the way that I havent seen yet I bought off gunbroker which I plan to make a flintlock bag.How do you all do it.I never realised there would be so much to getting organised and that is why Im writin this I want to finally get organised and I know some of you guys have been through this and won.

Highgain...from all the stuff you mentioned, it seems you need a "back pack" more than a possibles bag.

I have struggled with your delima for years. It boils down to the fact that you only carry what you need....not everything you would like. The small possible bags are fine for the absolute minimum...not everything possible.

When I first got started in muzzleloading, I used the pockets of an old USA Army Field Jacket, and life was good.
Forty years later I needed a pick up truck just to get back and forth to the range........ I do have bags set up by caliber for hunting.....
Here is a .50 and a .54 "set-up". The leather powder pouch is loaded with FFFg, for the .50, and the powder horn is FFg. for the .54

Hi highgain,
You needs may be different than mine, but, this is what works for me. I enjoy making my own leather shot pouches, and I have a separate one for each rifle (all my rifles are flintlocks). I use the same powder horn for all of them, as it is carried on a separate strap. I only use 3f, and I prime from the same horn, so there's no need to carry a second horn or a primer. All my pouches are quite small, and suspended from a 1 1/2" shoulder strap. Nothing is carried on the strap. The pouches contain only what I need for a day's hunting, and nothing that is not needed specifically for loading and firing. The pouch for my big game rifle contains a loading block with 6 greased patched round balls, a short, short starter, a touchhole pick, a powder measure, 1 flint and leather, 12 wiping patches, and a jag or worm. The pouch for my squirrel or varmint rifle contains the exact same items except for the caliber, and the loading block contains 12 patched balls instead of 6, since i'm apt to do more shooting when hunting squirrel or groundhog. On my belt, along with my knife, I carry a leatherman tool that gives me a screwdriver and a pair of pliars if I need them.
