Needed a possibles bag. Found a pattern here on this forum and went looking for material. Found something real neat at an upholstery shop. So my wife sewed up this possibles bag out of the biggest darn rattlesnake you ever saw.

And here's a picture of it open. It even has custom made pockets.

She had extra material so made me a custom padded and quilted gun case.

Looks pretty slick. It should serve you well. And you get bonus points because your wife supports you in your hobby.

:shocked2: Sorry, I don't do snakes or things that look like 'em! Other than that. Nice looking bag! Ever think about leather and handsewing one? :hmm:

That material would make a nice powder horn strap.

I guess so, but where and when? The pattern is that of a large snake from Africa, and isn't something that would have been seen in North America.

Perfect for a Zulu Mountain Man though.

I am into being PC as far as I find practical. There are those much more into it than I am, but there are those who are not, and they are happy where they are, and may advance with time, but I see no reason to down grade in public, those that do not measure up to others standards in this hobby. If you feel that way, then have the decency to keep it to yourselves. If you can't give a supportive post, then don't post at all. This man is proud of what he has, and that is all that really matters in his world. I think it great that he has a wife that not only supports his hobby, but helps him along with it. You have to admit that it is well made. Enough said. The construction is admirable. What it is constructed of, he is proud of. Let him have his pride. It is a fine looking bag, either way you look at it. It may not be historically correct, but it is his, and HE likes it. You don't have to carry it. You don't have to comment on it. Live, and let live. Did all of you who made derogatory remarks start out historically correct? I %^&*@#% doubt it. Would you like such that has been said put on a public forum concerning you? I doubt that too. Give the man a break. He will learn, if he stays in the hobby. If you need to make comments on someones tastes, then do it in a constructive, polite, and educating manner.

  ........WELL SAID !!!

Damn, were you looking over my shoulder as I typed? A couple of those remarks were about as rude as one can be. I find that totally uncalled for. As far as I'm concerned, that guy can wear whatever bag he wants. It's HIS bag, and no one elses business. He never said it was historically correct, he just said it was his new bag, and he is obviously very proud of it. 40 years ago, I might have been. I just find it very wonderful for him that his wife cares enough to help him out with it, and give him his pride. He, and she, deserve it. I say, well done, historically correct, or not!

Oh, I see. But your unsolicited comment, at the end of this thread was called for?

SPUDNUT SAID:"Very inexpensive, Holds an edge, In my opinion the nicest on the market for the price"

WICK SAID: "Good for the price, but not historically correct."

So, it's OK for you to make your "it's not correct" comment, but others can't? Oh please.

Carl, that was not a personal attack, as you made. The knives that were mentioned were out of context to what was being discussed. I only stated a fact that should not offend anyone in relation to the topic. Aside from that, what is it that made you think that I was refering to you in any way in the post you quoted? Try again *******.

OB, and Wick, I hope that my posted comment wasn't taken as a negetive or rude comment! I was just stating a fact. I have a thing about snakes in general. Have ever since I was a rug rat! As far as the comment/question about leather and handsewing a bag! It was just that!

BO, I DO THINK your bag would make a nifty hunting bag with it's natural CAMO look! Don't let a few "OLD POOP's" stop you from jumping in and posting your projects or commenting!

Rick....

Rick, your 101 % right...no-one should have made any negative comment about a wonderful bag made by the gents wife. Lucky man if you ask me..

Hmmmmm, let's see :hmm:

A man's wife makes him a possibles bag out of locally available material. She custom makes it to his specifications and he will eventually use it in the field. It is a one-of-a-kind creation, just as many of the original bags were...

Versus, someone else that orders a PC/HC bag from a modern manufacturing plant that is actually oversees in India...and the folks you get it from are only the importers. You get the same bag that 2000 other people ordered..

Naw, I like the original poster's bag ~ a lot!
It is much more correct in it's creation then the store bought reproductions you see time and time again. It is more original and unique. :v

I know that if my wife made it for me, I'd be damned proud to carry it...

Wish just once my wife would help me in a project..Nothing wrong with the pouch at all

Hi you all; No offense taken. I know it's not PC but might have, coulda been. We were looking for simulated leather to make one when I saw that snake print. I'm going to use it hunting and at the range. That camo works good for the snake so I figured it would work good for me in the woods. Other than that, thanks for the kind words. Yes I'm very proud of that bag and my wife. She's a great help to me and never complains when buy stuff or go to the range. After using it, it needed some changes and she now has taken it apart and is adding some more pockets inside. She also makes all my shirts and modifies my camo gear and ghillie suit.

Thanks for all the replies and a great thread.

You are a most fortunate man to have found such a wife as you have. Be good to her. There ain't that many around of that caliber.
