Well, I've swapped my stuff back and forth to one pouch for a long time to suit whichever gun I was carrying, but I've finally come up with a pouch for each gun.
Could y'all post up some pictures and/or some suggestions for setting up a pouch and horn, like horn attachment, starters, patch knives, and decorations like beadwork, etc.?
I need a few ideas, and I sure would like to see some of the nice pokes and plunder y'all tote around too. :winking:

Check these out my Kentucky Brother.

Let me know if you need more ideas.

I've been carry'n this old thing for more years than I want to think about. Its gettin' kinda worn and shabby. In the inside, it has a small pocket for carrying a cap can full of lubed patches, a long slender pocket for a short starter and more room below for smaller items. The outer pocket carrys roundball.

Fellers, that is some nice stuff!!! :hatsoff:
82 airborne, I like the way you attached the scabbards to the backs of the pouches, and the beadwork is killer!
I worked on the 2 pouches yesterday and got the horns attached and most of my shooting stuff in em. I'll post a picture when I get em close to finished. I looked around for some woven horn straps, but I couldn't find anything locally, so I went ahead and attached my horns to the pouches.
Has anybody got any pictures of how they attach a horn to a pouch, or attaching stuff like starters and measures to a strap where they are handy to get to? And how about a strap for keeping a priming horn and a vent pick around your neck?

Thanks!

Airborne, 4th pic down. That knife caught my eye!Is it a patch \ striker combo? Is the blade beveled? Really like to see it closer. Cool piece!!! Wild Eagle

Yes it is a patch/striker combo. The blade is beveled.

Hay Maestro, I like them bags. Who made them? I wouldn't mind getting one for myself.

Thanks Airborne, great pics. I guess it's a common trait amongst us buckskinners - Hey I like that I think I can make one. I think I'll fire up some coal and see what I come up with. I tink anoyher part of buckskinning is createing something with our own hands, plus not that we're cheap but we all need to pinch pennies. Thanks again for the pics. Wild Eagle

FW707, you asked for suggestions, I would suggest that you look close at Maestro's set up. Both are well made, show real class, but yet are relatively plain. If you research a bit, you will find that most surviveing shot bags are not very fancy. They were most often a utilitarian item. Some even made from boot tops. Even professional made bags leaned toward plain, just well made. If you look far enough, you may find a few fancy bags, but most often the fancy was in the original design work, and not from things attached to catch the eye. Even the Mt. men did not go as fancy as what is often depicted. Of course, there are exceptions to any rule, but plain would be the most common.

Hi Claude - both were made by Jeanne McDonald. Her website is Longknives and Leather - check out Rich's knives and hawks too, while you're at it. We usually run into them at a few events every year - Dixon's fair & the E.P.R. for sure. They're exceptional folks to deal with.
