hey guys, sorry for such a darn repetitious question but here goes, headin from my home in northern NE to San Antonio TX, leavin tues and just happened to think maybe somewhere tween here and there might be a place close to our route to buy some black. Any ideas? Sorry, it was just a last minute thot. Scott

Have to agree with Powder, Inc.: http://www.powderinc.com/index.html . They are in Clarksville, AR., right off of I-40. Great people and great prices. Another place you can try is Jack's Powder Keg: http://www.jackspowderkeg.com/ . It's in Marksville, LA.

I know of some Bass Pro Shops that still carry black powder back East, just don't know if all stores carry it. You might see of there is a store close to your route and give them a call. Bill

Dang, you're right between a lot of suppliers....New Mexico (Coonies), Arkensas (Powder, Inc.) and Louisiana (Jack's Powder Keg). You could make a day trip to any of them. Don't forget Graf & Sons : http://www.grafs.com/ in Missouri. I know the Bass Pro Shops here carry black powder, but their prices are rather steep.

Bass Pro Shop at I-10 and Loop 1604, but you have to ask for it. If the person behind the counter doesn't know what Goex is or says that they don't carry it, ask for the manager. found some @ bass pro in san antonio, the powder horn didn't have any and making it to dury's wasnt going to happen. they(bass pro)had a pretty good buy on cci caps also. Whew...i am glad to be home!

Glad they had what you needed Scott. Lately their selection of muzzle loading suplies has gotten slim with no indication that it's going to get replenished any time soon so I order most of what I need online, powder included. Just out of curiosity, how much is a pound of Goex going for @Bass Pro in SA?

Ouch! They've gone up $1.00 since the last time I bought from them. Stumpkiller is pointing out the lkinks to all the places that you can buy and/or order powder from. I prefer Powder Inc. myself. Even ordering the minimum 5 pounds from them brings the price of Goex down to $22.95 per pound which includes the hazmat & shipping fee. My club goes in together and buys a 25 pound case bringing the price down further to $14.50/pound. See if there are some muzzle loader clubs in your area and see if you can get in on a large order to save yourself a lot of money.

No clubs close, options are slim round here, very few trad mlers.

For those interested, don't count on a local Muzzleloading Club selling you any black powder.

Because of the red tape, almost NONE of them have a Federal permit to sell black powder to anyone and without that permit, selling black powder to anyone is a felony.

Occasionally a ML Club will get its members together and choose one member to act as a agent who represents them all.
After collecting full payment from each member he/she then orders the black powder which is delivered to his/her address.
He/she then gives the already payed for powder to each member who signed up and payed for it.

People do not have to belong to a club to do this. Any group of friends will do but the important thing to remember is that ALL of the money must be payed before the powder is ordered.

Graf & Sons has a sale on right now! They have Goxx , Graf , shultszen and Swift. I bought 12 pounds mixed of Schutzen and hazmat and shipping came to $14 a pound. I tried to get a group together but ended up just buying for my self.
They are running a little behind right now but their good people to work with. You can get caps shipped on the same hazmat also. Geo. T.
