And here is a picture of my possibles bad I made slung over my rifle and snow shoes with my horn at a primitive biathlon event

BAG with other gear

I DID NOT make the snow shoes. All these were my first attempts and were made in the last 6 weeks.

I was reticent to post them here after seeing some of the other posts and the overwhelming quality of the crafts others are putting out.

I am I the middle of building a Lyman Great Plains rifle in .54. I have been taking a ton of pictures and I will put up a link on the gun builders bench when done.

I hope you like them.

BTW I could not seem to put up any images with a JPEG The only thing that worked was a URL link

this is what happens when I try a JPEG

any ideas on JPEGS???

THANKS,

Jamie

loved the pics. Did you use a pistol shell casing in the short starter. if so, what cal? It looked great BTW.

Good eye new guy!!

Yes it is a .40 caliber pistil cartridge.

I put it in the sizing die and crimped it just enough so it would be tight on the hickory dowel, then a few drops of gorilla glue and it won't be coming off any time soon.

didnt get a chance to see your powder horn as the link did not work...

i just ordered two long horns and am going to give powder horn making a try even though i could have bought one completed for less money... lol

hows the weather up there in maine? the wife and I are thinking about moving up there if i can find work... what town you live in?

The weather in the Northern part of the state is typically cold and snowy 5 months out of the year.

This year was a non winter. BUT normally we get over 200 inches of snow and fall starts in August and spring is not until May.

It is a nice state if you don't mind winter, and like the outdoors. Overall the economy is a bit depressed. There is not a ton of employment opportunities.

 :v

Oh and here is a picture of the horn that should work

HORN

I live in a small town called Jackman. It is 14 miles from the Canadian border, 800 people with an economy based in tourism and the forestry industry.

This picture is for a few winters ago.

40 inch snowfall

that is the kind of snowfall you can wake up to :shocked2:

Nothing compared to out west in places like Colorado and Wyoming, but pretty impressive for the east coast.

wow you are out in the middle of nowhere huh... we were looking at lubec cause we wanted to be closer to the ocean...
