New to me powder horn, and other than the date, there is a NAF #51 designation.

Any way to tell if authentic to the date or a later make?

A lot of dated 1750's horns , the nails holding the plug in place are rusted off , and the big end plug is loose , or missing. That's one thing noted from examining some.
