My first powder horn, made from a horn I picked up at a show over here a few months ago. I decorated it with my middle name and an appropriate 18th century spelling of my surname plus a rough copy of a period map of the area North of Albany in around 1757. The stopper is an old violin key and the strap is from Hoosier Hand Weaving.

For more info on construction etc I have posted about it on my blog:

That horn looks pretty good! Did you paint it white or is that the natural color?

Not trying to be funny, but I clocked on the link you provided. It came up "The Merciful Servant" with updates for fatwas and such. Nothing about powder horns. :idunno:

Ok, now I don't know why but the link changes between me putting it in a post and submitting the post. How incredibly frustrating. I guess the pics will have to do for now.

Hi all, I have some improved pictures and thought I'd have another go at linking to my blog. Firstly my powder horn and belt rig, all hand made by me (except the knife and axe),

For some reason the link is still doing crazy things so if you would like to see more you can copy and paste the link below though you will have to delete the spaces.
