Thanks, I often wonder how many hours a craftsman puts into his work.

You and cutfingers are doing really nice work.

Very nice indeed! What do the full inscriptions say?

Sorry being slow to respond. The words on Washington's side reads, "Liberty's Root is a Plant of Rapid Growth". This was a statement Washington made to Congress.

so, the mold is made, then you do the pour, then you turn the pewter (still in the mold?) and then you put I ton the horn?

have I got this in more or less the right sequence?

by the way, where can I get some of this stuff ... it looks really cool ...

I get mostly from antique mall searching and antique stores, flea markets etc. when I see something that is stamped Britania, but Track of the wolf has it sometimes, but their a little pricey.

ah - there it is ... you can get a quarter pound for about eight bucks (plus the ever- popular shipping & handling) lead- free pewter.

:hmm:

do I assume that you can melt it like lead for casting?
what do you use to cast? sand? plaster of paris? this is getting more and more interesting!
