The last 5 deer I have killed have been with .58 loaded with 80 grs. of 3F. Furthest was about 60 yards, and all have been complete pass throughs. If, at 60 yards, I didn't get a pass through, I would up the charge. I have never seen the reasoning behind using low charges for deer hunting. What does another 20-30 grains of powder cost? If the heavier load is accurate, use it. That business about energy transfer may carry some weight when using high velocity expanding bullets from a modern center-fire, but when using a RB, I want two big holes for the goodies to run out. Lighter loads are not more sporting, just less efficient. Just my $ .02.
