Current delivered price of a case of Goex just now will be around $290 to my front porch...approaching $12/can

I just purchased 25 lbs. from powder inc.
Goex,1lb. ffffg,14lb.fffg. and 10lb.ffg.
It was $293.00 to my front door.
They include hazmat and shipping costs with the price of the powder.

At the two shops that still sell black powder here in Little Rock, the price is $19.95 per pound, plus 9.5% state and local sales tax.

roundball - was that through powder.com ?
what was the hazmat fee ?

thanks, Wart
I've always bought my cases from J&J Pyrotechnics in Moscow, PA...that was the delivered case price...I think she said the powder was $9.65/can, then the hazmat + shipping charges are added on.

Tom, there's no question that a case price is the best (almost half price) way to buy it...guys really should really try to locate each other in a town or county and split cases if you don't shoot enough to get a whole case by yourself

With local stores charging $24-36 a pound "when they have it" for BP, I sure am glad for the local free trappers group I hang with. They buy in very large quantities and pass it on to their members at cost, and always have it available at the bi-monthly camps. I haven't been able to shoot much the last couple of years, but last time I paid $8 per pound. Prices are probably higher now. Even so, still way less than my cost to buy 25 pounds and the advantage of not having to store that much.

Long way of saying you might want to check for local reenacting groups in your area that might offer the same to their members. Just a thought...

My local club buys 50 lbs a year of mixed goex and scheutzen ffg and fffg and we get it for cost, last shipment went up to $9.00 a pound. Two years ago it was $6.10 Most of the increase was due to hazmat fees.

Again check with local clubs for a $20.00 dollar a year membership you can save a lot of money on powder.

I drove over to Maine and picked up schutzen.. never could spell it.. for $11 a pound and Swiss for $16.
Didn't ask about Goex.
Bought 25lbs/ mixed

Hey Thanks Rebel,

I've been away from the forum for a while and It's good to be remembered on my first post back.

Thanks again.

I just got a ten pound lot of Goex 2f for about $14.40 per can.
That's a lot cheaper than any substitute powder at the local sporting goods store.

A couple of months ago, NMLRA was charging $11.00 a can for Goex from the range magazine, $12.00 is not bad anymore.

At current exchange rates, that's only $15 a can in New Zealand dollars. IF you can get Goex, it's more like $45 a pound - that's $35 to you... We pay similar prices for Chinese powder.

You don't know how lucky you are, boys.
