I was attending a long and boring training session in the western part of Massachusetts and took a roundabout way home in order to stop at the new Cabelas in E.Hartford Connecticut.

I walked through the reloading section in the hopes of finding some no. 6 shot. I was shocked when I saw a bag.

$49.99 a bag.

I almost died at the sight of that price. I guess I have been out of the loop when it comes to shot. I am sorry I took some old shot and melted it up for casting bullets a while back. Had I known I was going to get into this muzzleloading shotgun thing I would have stocked up a long time ago.

Yeah, its gone absolutely crazy...I used to shoot a lot of trap & skeet but its almost faded completely since I got into Flintlocks...kept thinking I'd start back up but seeing the price of shot now, if I do get back into it, it'll mainly be skeet with the .410 & .28ga as they use small shot charges...in fact, I just sold my Remington 1100/.20ga, Hornady .20ga progressive reloader, .20ga hulls, powder, & wads.

Lead balls are going through the roof too...I'm going to the range in the morning with a .50cal Flintlock...going to use up a couple dozen left over cheap lead balls, then finish the range session with a couple dozen .490 solid glass marbles at a penny apiece

I just bought 101 pounds of scrap lead pipe at a salvage yard. Price was $80.80.

All metals have gone through the roof in the past 1-1.5 years.
