I'm glad I came here for these thoughts! The heavy aspect of it may be a deal changer for me. I don't relish packing the weight to bag tree rats. I have a disability and it does affect my hands and arms a bit. I'm thinking I may just pass on this even if nothing turns up at the gun show tomorrow. Might just have to wait around for the Crockett rifle to pop up in stock somewhere.

Well, hard work searching paid off and we can now forget this one! I found a Traditions Crockett kit in stock and purchased it. So, now I've got something to work on through the rest of my winter and to prepare for tree rats come the next season! 😁

Guess, I should have finished reading the whole thread before replying.
I purchased one of these myself and have put it all put together. Just need to go shoot it to see how accurate it is.

I believe you made the better choice. I had a 36cal Green Mountain barrel on a Renegade once. "Muzzle-heavy" don't even begin to describe it. Handled like a fence-tamping bar tied to a 2x4. Shooting off bags at the bench it would likely be a dream and setting with yer back against a big oak & sniping 'Chicken of the Tree' would probably be okay. But I sure wouldn't want to do much strolling around the mountain with it.

Those are fine little rifles, good deal.

Nice score @SantiamSam! Very nice.

I bought a fair amount of Shuetzen last year when Goex disappeared but I haven't needed to use it yet.
Thanks! I wanted to use real powder to start with but, if it looks like it might dry up around here, there doesn't seem to be a shortage of Pyrodex.

Well hopefully you won't have to go that route. I used Pyrodex for a short time in the early 80's out of curiosity of something new. But returned fairly quickly to Goex and never left again. But there's nothing wrong with Schuetzen, just hadn't gotten around to trying mine. Would like to try Swiss too, if I ever come across some I'll buy it.

I was reading a bit on powders last night and read that the Swiss powder is really good! Burns hot and ignites quickly. If the hazmat charge wasn't so ridiculous, I would see about ordering some. In the mean, I'll give this a try and hopefully Goex will kick up again.

The Crockett .32 is wonderful little rifle. Their accuracy is usually phenomenal and they handle like a dream. Being a Crockett fan I think you will love what you've got.

I doubt anyone would argue that Swiss is the best. Hopefully get to try some one of these days.

Congratulations on all of your finds. A bit of work really paid off for you. Hopefully by the time you use up that powder Goex will be available again and maybe a few others.
