Yesterday while hunting, went to prime my pan--nothing came out. Couldn't imagine the flask being empty, but returned it to my shooting bag, and used my powder--2f--to prime, and kept hunting. Got the flask home, unscrewed it to refill----PLENTY of powder.

Took it apart to clean--thinking some hole plugged somewhere, etc. Eventually found a piece of hornet's nest in the dispenser. Took it out, ran a little water through JUST that piece (of course) and it flowed freely. Now I have it back together, but the plunger doesn't fully extend or something, so the powder is constantly shaking on through. It also doesn't feel like--when pressed in--neither does the plunger go in as deeply as it does normally. What did I miss in my reassembly?

Thanks

Hugh

Is it a CVA primer? I have one of those and the darn thing is always losing powder. If you shake it over your hand it looks like you get covered with pepper!

Got it fixed. Yes, it was the "pepper effect". You may want to take it down, and study the spring. There is a tiny "ridge" on the tube where the powder dispenses, and the spring has to butt up against that ridge. Mine was running slightly over it, causing the problem. Seems to be all good now.

Thanks,
Hugh

had a similar problem with a priming horn i built... it turned out to be a bad spring, which was quickly fixed after a trip to the hardware store.
