Here's a little primer flask that I made from a horn ring that was turned and polished. The ends were turned from walnut and each side has a horn window that was glued and then turned very thin (from the inside before assembly). I replaced the brass charger barrel and spout with horn parts that I turned and threaded. It's about 2-1/2" in dia. and 3/4" thick.

Now, that's some fine work. I'd be mighty proud to have that in my bag.

Nicely done --- what stops the powder from running out when not in use?

These have been very popular with a lot of horn makers these days and I have made many over the years with and without the glass, but also have had folks want compasses, pictures, mirrors and even powder horns base plugs with the frame window.

You did a nice job on your banjo flask!

Rick

Could you please explain a little more or perhaps provide another picture regarding the horn window. You say it was glued and turned. Did you glue it to the walnut and then turn it very thin? Very nice job and very interesting.
