Staggerwing: Here's a drawing showing how I put the parts together. I straightened and turned the horn side. I turned the end pieces as shown. The lens was cut from a flattened piece of horn that I knew would be transparent once thinned. I glued the lens in place then put the end back on the lathe (Cole jaws and rubber pins) and turned the lens down to about .030 thickness. I made both sides the same way, then glued the assembly together.
