Primitive external pack frame

Nice pack frame. I have one my dad made back in the 20's. Its been to the west coast a few times. He made it out of barrel stave's. Still in good shape. His trump line was made from a rifle sling. He thinned the stave's. And riveted it with copper harness rivets. My grandson SS is coming Sun, I will see if he will put the pictures up. Dilly

Great job! If you don't mind me asking, what are the outside frame dimensions and the cross-member spacings? Thanks for sharing!
 
It looks cool. When I was in scouts 35 years ago we lashed frames together like that.

One question. Is there any documentation for an external frame in the 19th or 18th century? Could you use it at an event?
