Its hackberry I think. I cut some sticks while mushroom hunting a few years ago and carved it from a piece.

The second one is very appealing: nice handle that complements the blade shape perfectly.
I just cut a hackberry in my back yard and bucked it up for firewood. Mebbe I'd better fetch a couple of pieces to dry in the garage.
