When I started into muzzle loading I came from a target rifle shooting background. It surprised me how much time was spent by some searching for the elusive ‘magic bullet’ and load combination - constant changes and tuning of equipment with little regard to tuning and refining their shooting skills… I don’t know anyone shooting Pritchett bullets / cartridges in MLAGB competition - it’s all grease groove bullets and pre-measured powder charges. Cartridges here in the UK are I think something where people who have the interest to make historical ammunition, they use on local ranges for their own pleasure. We still shoot Enfield 50 - 600 yards, and the Short Rifle (original or Parker-Hale P.58) predominate. I won both the Short Range (50 & 100m) and the Mid-Range (200, 300, 500 & 600 yards) Aggregate matches this year - with grease groove bullets in my original Short Rifle.
